Visas

Citizens from non-EU countries, European Economic Area (EEA)* and Switzerland that want to stay in Italy for a period longer that 90 days must have a Visa. Those staying less than 90 days are exempt from this obligation.

Study Visa request procedures

The Visa request must be filed within 8 days from the day of arrival in Italy. The Study visa request must be filed at an authorized Postal Office, which will provide the request form and the instructions for filling it.

You will need the following documents:

• • • A copy of your Passport’s page with your personal information, a copy of your travel visa and other pages of your passport with visas and stamps;
    • A copy of your Italian Fiscal Code Number, to be requested at an Agenzia delle Entrate office;
    • A copy of the invitational letter issued by Scuola Superiore Carolina Albasio presents to obtain the Visa at the Italian Consulate abroad validaded by said Consulate;
    • A copy of the enrolment certificate in Scuola Superiore Carolina Albasio;
    • A copy of the documents proving the possession of financial resources for the sustainment of the Study Visa period (i.e. scholarship award documents)
    • Revenue Stamp worth 14,62 euros;
    • Certificate of payment of the 107,50 euro bulletin for the PSE (Permesso di Soggiorno Elettronico);
    • Filled request form provided by the Postal Office
    • A copy of medical insurance coverage:
      • If the student has underwritten insurance coverage in his/her own country, it has to include the following details: name and surname in roman alphabet, medical expenses period and coverage, Schengen area validity, coverage cap of 30.000 euros in Italian (or English, French, Spanish). Everything must be validated and stamped by the Consulate.
      • If the student hasn’t underwritten any insurance in his/her own country, the payment can be done in every Postal Office by means of a bollettino postaleto:

    Once the payment is completed a confirmation certificate of insurance can be issued by sending a copy of said payment to to INA Assitalia via fax (fax number: 06.3613626) attaching a copy of the first page of the passport. In order to receive the certificate, the person has to give his/her personal fax number upon sending the aforementioned documents and contact immediately Assitalia at the phone numbers 06.3611676 or 06.3210214.

    The Postal Office will then issue a receipt valid as a visa to be kept at all times with the passport until the activation of the Electronic Visa (Passaporto Elettronico). We recommend the students to have utmost care for the receipt in order not to lose it or have it stolen.

    Along with the receipt the Postal Office will give the student a convocation notice from the Police Headquarters (Questura) – Immigration Office to have their picture taken. After 6-8 weeks, the applicant will be sent a sms from a number indicated upon filling the request along with the date the visa will be issued and ready for the taking.

    The receipt can be used to check on the status of his visa on www.portaleimmigrazione.it – “Area riservata stranieri” – insert Password e User ID written on the receipt (insert digits only, omitting the “-”).
